Rowan University Sophomore Alyssa Sanders traveled to Princeton University this weekend to compete in the Larry Ellis Invitational for Women’s Track and Field.
Sanders finished in fifth place in the outdoor unseeded 1500, and even though she did not place within the top three, it was still a rewarding weekend for this Lady Prof. She knocked a second off of her seasons best time with a new record of 4:43.78.
This comes just one week after she placed second in the 800 meter at the Coach P Invitational. Earlier this month Sanders also set a teams best time at the David Howell Invitational when she ran in the 5000 meters.
Junior Hannah Bonaguidi from Lehigh University claimed first at Larry Ellis with a time of 4:40.69. Sophomores Lexi Sciortino of La Salle and McKenzie Gelvin of Temple took second and third. Sciortino following Bonaguidi by just .23 of a second.
This is not the end for Sanders either. Next weekend the Prof’s will compete at the University of Pennsylvania for the infamous Penn Relays which will be held from April 25th-27th. On the 27th as well the Brown and Gold will participate in the Carol & John Covert Classic at Moravian College.
Hopefully Sanders can continue to dominate on the track and continue to set new records not only for herself, but for Rowan as well.
