For many athletes, the goal is to play at a D1 University to either finish out their college years, or try and go pro. But this route is not for every athlete. Samantha Digristina grew up playing soccer. “It was apart of [her]”, she said.
Sometimes the love of a sport is not enough to get you on the best teams. However, this does not mean one should give up their passions. Digristina sat down and talked about how she found another way to play.
Community college is a great option for college students for many different reasons, and it is overlooked by many athletes. As Digristina said in her interview, playing soccer for Rowan College at Burlington County was almost like a full time job.

Digristina knew she did not want to give up soccer, but did not think she was good enough to play for Rowan University. She was also attracted to the Nursing Program and price of a community college.
She was a walk-on for the RCBC Soccer team and was a starter in all of her years there. Playing for the Barons was much more difficult then she ever thought it would be.
Once she was officially on the team, she was surprised she even made it there, let alone Rowan University. Digristina admitted she has a “tendency to doubt herself”.
In the end, Digristina got more out of athletics from a community college then she ever thought she would.
