Rowan’s Field Hockey Receives NFHCA National Academic Team Award

For the first semester of the 2018 season the Rowan University Field Hockey team was honored by receiving a National Academic Team Award from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. To earn this award, a team as a whole needs to have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 or higher for that given semester.

Rowan was one of 131 Division III teams to be recognized for this accomplishment. And this is not the first time that the Lady Prof’s in this organization have been called out for efforts on and off the field.

Just a few weeks ago Senior forward Rachel Galante was honored as Rowan’s woman of the year at the 2019 National Girls and Women in Sports Day event at Seton Hall University.

This event had a theme of “Lead her Forward” for showcasing how women can use sports motivate and push each other to achieve excellence and recognize that their potential has no limitations.

What makes this even more impressive was not only are these girls crushing it in the classroom, but their record on the field this season was 22-1.

More awards are coming up soon as well. The Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Squad will be given out on March 20, the Scholars of Distinction following soon after on March 27 and the National Scholar-Athlete on April 3.
